Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for an AS400 Developer and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to multiple ongoing projects within a collaborative IT team. You will play a key role in developing, testing, and deploying robust solutions on the AS400 platform, ensuring seamless integration and high-quality code delivery to support core banking operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on coding and development on AS400 systems, including RPGILE, SQLRPGLE, COBOL, and CL programming.
- Participate in low-level design activities to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Collaborate closely with team members during System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phases to ensure quality standards are met.
- Write, review, and maintain detailed implementation and deployment plans.
- Communicate effectively with business stakeholders and team members to clarify requirements and provide progress updates.
- Work within a Waterfall project methodology environment, adhering to established processes and best practices.
Desired Skill-Set
- Proven experience as an AS400 / IBM i Developer with strong hands-on expertise.
- Proficiency in programming languages including RPGILE, SQLRPGLE, COBOL, and CL.
- Solid understanding of DB2/400 (DB2400) database systems.
- Familiarity with development tools such as RDI and ARCAD.
- Ability to produce high-quality code supported by comprehensive technical documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience working within an Agile methodology environment.
- Prior involvement in financial or banking projects.
- Knowledge of additional tools or technologies relevant to IBM i systems.
