Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Banking Associate – CSC. This position offers an excellent opportunity to support critical daily operations within a reputable financial institution, with potential for career growth and full-time employment.
Pay rate range (CAD): $17.60 – $22.76
Responsibilities
- Monitor and review daily corporate action notifications from vendors such as DTC, CDS, TSE, Bloomberg, etc.
- Manually identify systems holding share positions and seek validation from secondary sources.
- Follow up on corporate actions not received from main depositories to meet timelines.
- Identify complex tax treatment corporate actions and forward details for tax analysis prior to payment.
- Escalate issues promptly to senior team members.
- Maintain and update databases, logbooks, and online records accurately.
- Respond to inquiries regarding notifications efficiently and professionally.
- Create and organize corporate action files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date.
- Ensure reconciliation system items reflect current statuses and flags.
- Conduct detailed analysis of circulars/notifications within tight deadlines.
- Assess restrictions and eligibility for Canadian resident shareholders regarding corporate actions.
- Determine required documentation and submission deadlines to agents.
- Review corporate actions for French preference holders and coordinate translations if needed.
- Identify foreign currency risks associated with upcoming corporate actions.
- Summarize complex information into clear notifications for clients.
- Coordinate mailing with Symcor, send email updates to internal accounts, and prepare web broker uploads.
- Communicate effectively with transfer agents and relevant parties to obtain confirmation material.
- Complete assigned internal courses and cross-train as required.
- Perform daily income dividend and interest payments reconciliation on US custody records.
- Support mutual fund dividend payments and ensure timely processing.
Desired Skill-Set
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in processing or accounting within banking or financial services.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in corporate actions processing and reconciliation systems.
- Familiarity with credit and debit processing.
- CSC – Canadian Security Course completed.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated team player.
Nice to Have
- Experience with complex asset processing, notably corporate actions.
- Prior banking or financial institution experience.
- Familiarity with dividend systems reconciliation.
- Knowledge of foreign currency exchange implications on corporate actions.
