Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Senior Application Developer (AS400/i-Series Developer). This position involves managing and developing core banking applications for the bank, supporting regulatory initiatives and modernization projects, and collaborating closely with senior team members to deliver technical solutions that meet business needs.
Pay rate (CAD): $65.00/hr – $75.00/hr
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product teams to gather and implement customer requirements for AS400 systems
- Manage, develop, secure, and maintain applications on AS400 platforms using RPG/LE, COBOL/400, and SQL
- Participate in problem analysis, data mapping, use case modeling, and documentation processes
- Contribute to project delivery through effective teamwork and communication
- Identify areas for process and operational improvements
- Support regulatory projects and modernization initiatives as part of a dynamic team
- Maintain application security and troubleshoot system issues to ensure smooth operation
- Follow both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum methodologies, utilizing tools like JIRA, ServiceNow, and related technologies
Desired Skill-Set
- Minimum of 7 years of experience developing on AS400/I-series platforms
- Proficiency with RPG/LE, COBOL/400, SQL, Query/400, QM Query, ASC Sequel, CLP/CLLE, MQ, Dataqueue, IFS, DB2/400, RDI, and TAATOOL
- Experience with Waterfall, Agile, or Scrum project approaches and JIRA
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work independently and creatively
- Knowledge of banking applications and operational processes preferred
- Excellent documentation, data analysis, and use case modeling skills
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate leadership and initiative
Nice to Have
- Prior banking application development experience
- Familiarity with SFTP and Arcad tools
- Experience working with cross-functional teams on regulatory and modernization projects
