Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Portfolio Manager – Data Management. This position offers an exciting opportunity to oversee a major project centered on establishing a new portfolio management model, with considerable influence over the organization’s strategic direction. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in portfolio management within a financial services environment, a strong leadership mindset, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams effectively.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of IT professionals, including permanent and contract staff, to support business and stakeholder requirements.
- Oversee project delivery across assigned applications, ensuring timely execution and quality standards.
- Collaborate with technology and business leaders to define priorities, strategies, and governance frameworks aligned with organizational goals.
- Communicate portfolio vision and project expectations clearly to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Develop impact assessments, manage delivery schedules, and conduct risk assessments to mitigate operational issues.
- Monitor capacity forecasting processes and ensure compliance among project managers.
- Assess and prioritize change requests, issues, and risks across the portfolio.
- Manage vendor relationships, including contract oversight, billing, and issue resolution.
- Coordinate project scope, budgets, and timelines with clients, project managers, and third-party vendors.
- Maintain knowledge of technology initiatives and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions.
- Track and report on project progress, ensuring alignment with budgets and timelines.
- Promote a high-performing team environment emphasizing collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise delivery standards and best practices in project management.
- Identify opportunities to optimize operational efficiency and enhance service delivery.
Desired Skill-Set
- 8+ years of program or portfolio management experience.
- Proven ability to establish governance frameworks, roadmaps, and resource planning processes.
- Strong experience with project management tools such as Confluence and Jira.
- Demonstrated capability in designing foundational portfolio capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Skilled in financial management, resource capacity planning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Adept at managing multiple projects with complex scopes and cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Clarity project management software.
- Banking or financial services industry background.
- Previous involvement in data management, data delivery, or software development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of standards, policies, and procedures related to data governance.
