Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Sr. BSA (Databricks/Corporate Banking). This position involves supporting a major Capital Markets Client Reporting Optimization and Integration initiative. The successful candidate will act as a bridge between business stakeholders, source systems, and the technical data engineering team, focusing on modernizing reporting environments and integrating data across Capital Markets data architecture. The role requires a highly data-centric professional comfortable working directly with source data and collaborating with developers to translate business needs into structured data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements and convert them into detailed data and reporting specifications
- Examine source systems and datasets to understand data structures, relationships, and limitations
- Map source system data to business reporting and analytics needs for Capital Markets
- Collaborate with Databricks engineers on data integration, transformation, and modeling within the data environment
- Validate data assumptions and identify issues through direct data analysis using SQL and other tools
- Understand and navigate the Databricks environment, including Unity Catalog, schemas, and tables
- Define dimensions, measures, and relationships supporting analytical reporting while applying star schema, dimensional modeling, and Medallion architecture best practices
- Facilitate requirement clarification and resolution of data-related questions across business and technical teams
- Provide data mappings, definitions, and context to support development efforts
- Build data prototypes or proofs of concept to validate solutions with stakeholders and speed up delivery
- Investigate discrepancies and data quality issues between source systems and reporting outputs
- Help establish clear definitions for key business metrics such as revenue, client profitability, and risk measures
- Collaborate with Power BI and Databricks teams to ensure the data architecture supports reporting needs
- Engage in solution discussions around data integration, modeling, and reporting design
- Act as a liaison between business users and technical developers to ensure alignment and clarity in data solutions
Desired Skill-Set
- Extensive experience as a technically oriented Business Systems Analyst or Data Business Analyst
- Practical experience working with Databricks and modern data environments
- Strong SQL and data analysis skills
- Deep understanding of data modeling and data structures
- Knowledge of star schema, dimensional modeling, and Medallion architecture
- Ability to analyze source systems and perform detailed data mapping
- Proficiency working directly with data rather than relying solely on business requirements documentation
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with both business stakeholders and technical teams
- Experience translating business needs into technical data specifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Domain expertise in Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, or Capital Markets, including familiarity with revenue generation, client profitability, risk, and financial reporting in highly regulated environments
Nice to Have
- Support experience with Databricks migration or data integration projects
- Knowledge of Azure Databricks and Azure Data Services
- Experience with Unity Catalog
- Supporting Capital Markets reporting or analytics applications
- Familiarity with Power BI or other analytical reporting platforms
- Exposure to Python
- Experience building data prototypes or collaborating with development teams
- Working with complex financial datasets
