Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Network Security Engineer – Guardicore/Akamai. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing enterprise-wide micro-segmentation strategies, leveraging modern security technologies to enhance infrastructure protection and reduce lateral movement risks. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence security architecture in a complex banking environment, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful security solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement micro-segmentation architectures aligning with security policies and operational needs
- Analyze server-to-server communication, identify traffic flows, and develop segmentation policies
- Develop and maintain infrastructure asset inventories and communication flow mappings
- Create and enforce tagging strategies and governance frameworks for micro-segmentation
- Document security designs, policies, and operational procedures for compliance and reference
- Collaborate with application, security, and infrastructure teams to facilitate implementation
- Support the integration of micro-segmentation tools into existing security environments
- Enhance security controls for both legacy and modern infrastructure systems
- Promote least-privilege access principles across enterprise systems
Desired Skill-Set
- 8-10+ years' strong network engineering experience including routing, switching, protocols, TCP/IP
- Extensive firewall and network security expertise
- Solid system administration skills in Windows and Linux
- In-depth understanding of server-to-server communication and traffic analysis
- Experience interpreting ports, protocols, DNS, and domain controller traffic
- Hands-on or conceptual experience with micro-segmentation solutions
- Proven ability in designing security policies such as allow/block models and least privilege
- Infrastructure and application dependency mapping experience
- Strong troubleshooting and investigative skills for complex traffic analysis
- Experience working in enterprise environments with intricate infrastructure setups
- Ability to create comprehensive documentation, architecture diagrams, and inventory artifacts
- Proven collaboration with security engineering and application teams
Nice to Have
- Experience with Guardicore (Akamai) micro-segmentation tools
- Knowledge of other micro-segmentation platforms like Illumio or VMware NSX
- Prior experience working within banking or financial services environments
- Familiarity with ServiceNow and enterprise ITSM tools
- Previous client experience within large financial institutions
