Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Senior Financial Analyst. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic finance team responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and supporting continuous month-end processes.

Pay rate range (CAD): $57.97/hr – $69.57/hr

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute the monthly and quarterly closing processes, including reviewing journal entries and financial results to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial reports, ensuring data integrity across the ledger.
  • Oversee the completion of month-end reconciliation activities, supporting the team with ad-hoc requests and project initiatives.
  • Prepare and present detailed financial reports, analyses, and variance explanations to stakeholders.
  • Support the review and enforcement of finance-owned SOX controls, including suspense accounts, to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, streamlining operational workflows to enhance control efficiency and automation.
  • Collaborate with team members and business partners to ensure seamless communication and accurate financial data reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to financial systems and reporting tools.

Desired Skill-Set

  • 5+ years of experience within financial services or similar environment, with strong knowledge of financial and management accounting.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including formulas, VBA, and macros, with ability to manage large data volumes and perform complex data analysis.
  • Experience investigating accounting discrepancies and understanding of financial processes.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Peoplesoft, BI tools, and general ledger applications (SAP, Oracle) is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, with high accuracy in data management.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex financial information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional accreditation (CPA, CFA or similar) in progress or completed is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with lending products, terms, interest calculations, and related fees.
  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.
  • Familiarity with ACBS or similar lending systems.
  • Additional certifications or training that enhance financial reporting and analysis capabilities.
