Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Sr Business Analyst-Investments/Mutual Funds. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale enterprise projects supporting investment product and platform optimization within a prominent banking environment. The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders, supporting a complex investment data and platform transformation.
Pay rate range (CAD): $70.00/hr – $75.00/hr
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and define investment-related requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions, challenge and clarify stakeholder needs, and document detailed business requirements
- Identify impacted stakeholders, develop stakeholder engagement strategies, and manage expectations effectively
- Conduct requirements walkthroughs and obtain formal approval and sign-off from stakeholders
- Translate business needs into clear, structured requirements suitable for technology teams, supporting both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Support the transition of finalized requirements into the delivery phase and assist in issue resolution throughout the process
- Work closely with Regulatory, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure requirements meet all relevant Canadian regulatory standards, including CRA, CIRO, MFDA, and IIROC
- Maintain comprehensive documentation in tools such as Jira and Confluence; optionally utilize Visio and process mapping tools for business process visualization
- Demonstrate a proactive ownership mentality, independently identifying gaps and acting as a subject matter expert in investment products and processes
- Effectively communicate complex business concepts to diverse audiences, including senior leadership, and prepare presentation materials as needed
Desired Skill-Set
- Minimum of 6-8+ years of business analysis experience within banking or financial services
- Extensive hands-on knowledge of investment products, especially mutual funds, GICs, stocks/ETFs, RRSPs, RESPs, TFSAs, and registered investment products
- Proven experience supporting large-scale enterprise initiatives involving complex investment platforms and product migrations or conversions
- Strong understanding of Canadian registered investment products and regulatory environments, including CRA, CIRO, MFDA, and IIROC frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to gather, validate, and prioritize requirements directly from business stakeholders, managing ambiguous situations with confidence
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, especially with regulatory, legal, and compliance groups
- Adept at requirement documentation, walkthroughs, and obtaining stakeholder approval
- Experience working across multiple methodologies (Agile & Waterfall) with tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior and executive audiences
- Self-starter with ownership mentality, capable of working independently and driving requirements to completion
Nice to Have
- Asset management or securities industry experience
- Wealth management exposure within banking or financial institutions
- Investment platform migration and client data management experience
- Digital investment journey or customer experience know-how
- Business process mapping and process flow documentation skills
- Certification in business analysis or financial services (not required)
- Experience with digital customer journeys and platform conversions involving substantial client data
