Agile Release Train Engineer

Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for an Agile Release Train Engineer (RTE) who will facilitate release planning, coordination, and execution across multiple Agile teams. The successful candidate will act as a servant leader, driving continuous improvement, managing dependencies, mitigating risks, and ensuring the seamless delivery of business value across complex programs and platforms. The RTE will also play a critical role in coaching leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile principles, supporting transformation initiatives, and fostering collaboration across all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and optimize the flow of value through Agile Release Trains (ARTs) using Scrum, Kanban, and other Lean-Agile tools.
- Lead Program Increment (PI) Planning, readiness sessions, and post-PI reviews to align teams on vision, features, and goals.
- Coordinate system demos, release synchronization meetings, and retrospectives to ensure continuous alignment and improvement.
- Track progress and produce key metrics and dashboards to monitor performance, velocity, and release predictability.
- Manage risks, dependencies, and impediments, ensuring they are escalated and resolved efficiently.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Architecture, and Release Management teams to align delivery with business priorities.
- Support and coach Scrum Masters and Agile teams to improve Agile maturity and delivery efficiency.
- Drive Lean-Agile and DevOps mindset adoption, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Partner with Business Owners and Product Managers to align strategy, vision, and execution across programs.
- Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance delivery and operational excellence.
- Ensure adherence to governance, compliance, and risk management standards.
- Champion continuous learning and team development, promoting Agile best practices across the organization.
Desired Skill Set:
- 5–7 years of experience as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) or in similar large-scale Agile delivery roles.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline (university degree preferred).
- Proficiency in Agile management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint.
- Strong understanding of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles and Agile delivery at scale.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to analyze risks, identify bottlenecks, and drive problem resolution across multiple teams.
- Skilled in coaching and mentoring Agile teams, fostering engagement, collaboration, and accountability.
Nice to Have:
- SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification, SAFe Agilist (SA), Scrum Master (CSM/PSM), or PMP.
- Experience in Asset Management, Wealth Management, or Financial Services environments.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and value stream management.
- Background in Agile transformation initiatives or enterprise-level change management.
