Controls Tester / Audits / Market Risk
Are you an experienced controls or audit professional with a strong background in Market Risk? This role offers an exciting opportunity to support governance, oversight, and control testing activities within the Market Risk function for one of our top financial clients. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, execute Monitoring & Testing (M&T), support audits, and contribute to strengthening the overall control environment.
Working with a leading financial institution, this position calls for a Controls Tester / Audits / Market Risk who will execute control testing, prepare reports, participate in regulatory activities, and provide governance support across Market Risk. The ideal candidate excels at documentation, risk assessment, and communication, with the ability to work independently in non-routine scenarios.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Market Risk functions and act as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders.
- Execute Monitoring & Testing (M&T) activities, communicate outcomes, prepare testing reports, and recommend action plans when issues arise.
- Review business processes and identify opportunities to mitigate risk by proposing new controls or enhancing existing ones.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the M&T plan and regulatory inventory.
- Support the maintenance of the Market Risk PRC, documenting governance systems, processes, frameworks, roles, and compliance requirements.
- Assist with internal and external regulatory audits and examinations as needed.
- Prepare presentations and decks for forums and committees.
- Coordinate and participate in oversight and governance activities, including reporting, training assessments, regulatory processes, and policy updates.
- Assist with quarterly reporting obligations such as CRO and SOX attestations.
- Develop and maintain strong knowledge of the business, risk management requirements, and applicable legislative or regulatory directives.
- Exercise sound judgment to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues within established guidelines.
- Work independently and handle non-routine situations effectively.
- Provide quality assurance, advice, and effective challenge to the 2a Market Risk function on governance topics.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Desired Skill Set:
- 3–5 years of experience in controls testing, audits, or assurance within a Big 4 firm or financial institution (Market Risk preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to articulate complex findings clearly.
- Strong audit methodology knowledge and exceptional documentation skills.
Nice to Have:
- Accounting designation (CPA or equivalent).
- Experience with Excel, SQL, or Python for automation and data analysis.
