Python Developer (Banking)

Working with a leading financial institution, this position calls for a Python Developer (Banking) who will design, develop, and maintain backend components, contribute to high-quality applications, and ensure efficient data handling within banking systems. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and excels at communication in fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python.
- Build and enhance APIs, web applications, and microservices to support enterprise-level systems.
- Diagnose and resolve data quality issues, schema mismatches, and pipeline failures (not a data architecture role).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, QA, and Business stakeholders, to support requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
- Apply best practices, design patterns, and clean coding standards to all development work.
- Troubleshoot production issues and support incident resolutions as needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance and code quality.
- Work effectively in a banking environment, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.
Desired Skill Set:
- 5–7 years of backend development experience with strong hands-on expertise in Python.
- Proven experience building APIs, web applications, and microservices.
- Strong ability to analyze and resolve data quality issues and pipeline failures.
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices and design patterns.
- Banking or financial services experience preferred.
- Knowledge of ACBS, AFS, or Corporate/Commercial Lending systems is an asset.
