Application Support Analyst – OpenShift/Kubernetes & Kafka

Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for an Application Support Analyst specializing in OpenShift and Kubernetes. The successful candidate will join the operations team responsible for maintaining and supporting enterprise-grade container platforms critical to banking operations, including deployment and management of Kafka clusters on OpenShift.
Pay rate range (CAD): $55.97/hr – $65.97/hr
Responsibilities
- Provide operational support for OpenShift 4 clusters, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Configure and support Kafka Operator and Kafka clusters on OpenShift, including platform upgrades, maintenance, namespaces, resource quotas, and certificate management.
- Execute pipeline-based deployments for OpenShift services using Gitops methodologies.
- Monitor environments using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, troubleshooting issues proactively.
- Manage activities related to certifified OpenShift services (e.g., Kafka, Istio, Redis).
- Support environment upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Work effectively within Linux command-line environments and Azure cloud platform.
- Collaborate with team members to support public-facing applications hosted on OpenShift.
- Assist in building and launching new applications and Kafka enterprise services on OpenShift.
- Support ongoing operations post-launch and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Desired Skill-Set
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes container platforms.
- 5+ years supporting Kafka in an enterprise environment.
- Extensive experience with production application support in a 24×7 operational setting, following change and incident management processes.
- Strong understanding of high-availability architecture and enterprise infrastructure best practices.
- Proficiency with RHEL Linux OS, Gitops, Github, Shell scripting, and Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Experience supporting cloud/containerized applications, ideally within a financial services context.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, YAML configurations, and automation tools is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience supporting applications in a financial institution.
- Exposure to automation and scripting for deployment and operational tasks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and related tools.
- Understanding of additional cloud services and container orchestration tools.
