Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Cyber Threat Analyst-Splunk. In this position, you will be responsible for providing tactical and operational cyber threat intelligence to support security, fraud prevention, incident response, and risk management efforts. You will monitor the evolving cyber threat landscape, analyze threat actors and TTPs, and produce actionable intelligence products to enhance cyber resilience across the organization.
Pay rate range (CAD): $46.92/hr – $56.30/hr
Responsibilities
- Monitor, triage, and assess incoming cyber threat intelligence emails, alerts, notifications, and reports from internal and external sources.
- Conduct continuous cyber event monitoring and escalate credible threats to the Incident Response Centre (IRC) and relevant teams.
- Keep abreast of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, threat actors, campaigns, and trends impacting the organization and the financial sector.
- Collect, correlate, and analyze threat intelligence to support cyber defense, security operations, and incident response activities.
- Assess threat actors, malware, ransomware, and adversary tactics to evaluate potential business impact and risks.
- Generate high-quality intelligence reports, alerts, advisories, and situational awareness products tailored for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support incident investigations by providing threat context, attribution insights, and indicators of compromise (IOCs).
- Develop and update threat actor profiles, attack trend analyses, and sector-specific intelligence assessments.
- Collaborate with security teams to improve detection, response, and mitigation capabilities.
- Participate in threat hunting, investigations, and post-incident reviews to identify emerging risks.
- Engage with industry partners and external sources to gather and share relevant threat information.
- Brief stakeholders and leadership on significant cyber threats and recommended actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of cyber threat intelligence processes, requirements, and reporting standards.
Desired Skill-Set
- At least 2 years of experience in cyber threat intelligence or related cybersecurity fields including incident response.
- Strong knowledge of threat actors, attack trends, vulnerabilities, and the financial sector threat landscape.
- Ability to analyze and contextualize data from multiple threat intelligence sources.
- Excellent writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Proven experience producing clear, concise, and actionable intelligence reports.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Splunk or other SIEM tools.
- Familiarity with threat intelligence platforms (TIPs).
- Previous experience in financial institutions.
- Sector-specific cybersecurity or critical infrastructure experience.
- Relevant postsecondary education.
