Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Data Scientist – Model Validation/Financial Crimes. This position involves supporting model health, monitoring, governance, and stakeholder engagement within a regulated environment, offering opportunities to work on innovative AI initiatives and advanced analytics projects.
Pay rate range (CAD): $57.42/hr – $68.90/hr
Responsibilities
- Execute ongoing monitoring activities across a portfolio of production models using Python, SQL, Databricks, and PySpark
- Analyze large datasets to evaluate model performance, stability, data quality, and operational outcomes
- Investigate threshold breaches, data anomalies, and emerging risks; develop reports and dashboards for stakeholders
- Support model onboarding, validation, reviews, updates, and remediation efforts
- Maintain accurate governance documentation, including Model Development Reports and Monitoring Plans
- Coordinate responses to validation, compliance, audit, and regulatory inquiries
- Serve as a liaison between Business Owners, Model Vendors, Validation teams, and Technology partners
- Facilitate governance discussions and ensure alignment across stakeholders
- Identify process improvement opportunities and support automation initiatives with Python, SQL, and Databricks
- Contribute to emerging AI and advanced analytics governance activities
Desired Skill-Set
- 2+ years of experience in data science, model governance, or related fields
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, PySpark, and large-scale data processing
- Strong understanding of machine learning methodologies, including supervised and unsupervised techniques
- Ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Nice to Have
- Experience collaborating with Model Validation, Compliance, or Audit teams
- Experience reviewing third-party vendor models
- Prior banking, financial services, or institutional experience
