Infrastructure Security Specialist/Database Security
Are you an experienced technology security professional with deep expertise in database platforms, governance controls, and enterprise security frameworks? This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a major financial institution’s Infrastructure Security and Database Governance team, supporting the development, enforcement, and optimization of security controls across large-scale database environments.
Working with one of our top financial clients, this position calls for an Infrastructure Security Specialist/Database Security professional who will oversee database security governance processes, assess and validate exception requests, contribute to security standards documentation, and support enterprise risk initiatives. The ideal candidate will be analytical, detail-oriented, and highly skilled in influencing stakeholders while operating effectively in fast-paced, enterprise environments.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee, monitor, and enforce enterprise technology control frameworks and information security activities.
- Participate in business-specific, cross-functional, and enterprise initiatives to identify risks and provide expert guidance.
- Review internal processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend opportunities for enhancement and improved operational effectiveness.
- Create, maintain, and update TSS/STIG standard documentation to support security governance requirements.
- Educate stakeholders to promote a risk-aware culture and influence security-conscious behaviors across teams.
- Support predefined database security exception processes and ensure requests align with established exception use cases.
- Review and validate database security exception requests, ensuring compliance with organizational security standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure remediation plans for security and governance issues are completed accurately and on time.
- Stay current on emerging trends, database technologies, risk frameworks, and analytical tools.
Desired Skill Set:
- 10+ years of experience in information technology, ideally within financial services or consulting environments.
- Strong knowledge of major database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server, Azure PaaS databases, and Oracle.
- Familiarity with additional platforms such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, DB2, and MySQL (not required but beneficial).
- Experience in database security administration or governance functions.
- Understanding of NIST frameworks, configuration drift management, and vulnerability management practices.
- Working knowledge of Qualys.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to create process control documents and maintain governance standards.
- Experience partnering with business stakeholders to support remediation activities.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Highly organized, flexible, and capable of managing multiple tasks independently with minimal supervision.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working in large enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Background in BAU database governance or security operations.
- Information security certifications or accreditations.
