Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Mainframe Developer – Banking / Cards Payments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to mission-critical systems supporting financial transactions, data security, and regulatory compliance. Pay rate range (CAD): $65.60/hr – $78.72/hr
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, Endevor, and related tools to support banking and card payment operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to design scalable and secure solutions that meet business and regulatory requirements.
- Support operational needs through small enhancements, bug fixes, and incident resolution.
- Participate actively in daily stand-ups, project meetings, and status updates to ensure clear communication of progress and issues.
- Support incident management by analyzing production outages, performing impact assessments, and assisting with recovery activities.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes, including peer code reviews and adherence to enterprise standards.
- Support automation and modernization initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain high-quality and well-documented code, supporting testing phases from unit to production deployment.
- Manage and support source control, change management, and deployment practices in a regulated environment.
- Provide technical guidance and collaborate across teams including infrastructure, operations, and business stakeholders.
Desired Skill-Set
- 10+ years of experience in mainframe application development within banking or financial services.
- Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CA7 Scheduling, Endevor, and VSAM.
- Experience with CICS, SAS, and related mainframe technologies.
- Knowledge of incident management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
- Ability to write clear, concise documentation and communicate effectively.
- Strong organizational skills, attentive to detail, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in card payments networks or financial services.
- Knowledge of TIBCO, NDM, FTP, File-Aid, and related middleware and file transfer tools.
- Exposure to enterprise source control and release management processes.
- Experience supporting on-call rotations and managing production incidents.
