Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for an Android Developer specialized in Jetpack, Kotlin, and banking technology.

Pay rate range (CAD): $68.84/hr – $82.61/hr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain native Android applications for banking platforms using Kotlin and Jetpack libraries.
  • Lead technical discussions and collaborate with project teams, business analysts, and vendors to deliver robust solutions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Develop detailed technical specifications and work closely with architects to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
  • Conduct code reviews to maintain high-quality, reusable, and maintainable codebase.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet delivery deadlines.
  • Support integration efforts with existing banking systems and services.
  • Participate in testing, debugging, and resolving escalated incidents or outages promptly.
  • Continuously update technical knowledge and stay current with emerging trends and technologies in mobile development.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of deployment strategies and activities.
  • Collaborate within a dynamic, agile environment focused on delivering excellent user experiences and timely project completion.
  • Engage in knowledge transfer sessions and promote a collaborative team culture.

Desired Skill-Set

  • Minimum 5 years of mobile development experience, with at least 3 years working with Kotlin on Android.
  • Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose libraries for UI development.
  • Proficiency with Android Studio, Gradle, Emulator, and related development tools.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns including MVC, MVP, and MVVM.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Robolectric, and Espresso.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well-organized, self-motivated, and a strong team player.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Customer-oriented with a focus on quality and reliability.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of analytics tools such as Dynatrace, SonarQube, or Crashlytics.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical team members.
  • Familiarity with working in a distributed team environment, including offshore developers.
  • Previous experience in the financial services industry.
