Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Model Validation Consultant/CCR. You will be responsible for independently verifying CCR models, assessing model risk, and ensuring regulatory compliance within a dynamic project environment. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical risk management initiatives and work alongside a collaborative team of experts.

Pay rate range (CAD): $72.46/hr-$86.96/hr

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to assigned business or group.
  • Influence and negotiate to achieve business objectives.
  • Develop and implement solutions based on issue analysis and implications.
  • Assist in strategic planning efforts.
  • Identify emerging issues and trends to guide decision-making.
  • Research current and emerging requirements and best practices to inform recommendations for enhancements.
  • Prioritize business initiatives and develop implementation sequences.
  • Conduct independent analysis to resolve strategic issues.
  • Support strategic initiatives through collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Represent model validation during internal/external regulatory audits and examinations.
  • Ensure stakeholder alignment across initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in change management activities, including planning, stakeholder management, and evaluation.
  • Lead research efforts for validation of new model types.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on the status of the model validation program.
  • Contribute to operational programs supporting the model vetting framework.
  • Design, implement, and manage core validation processes.
  • Independently validate models and their assumptions, benchmarks, and documentation.
  • Assess model data inputs and compare validation outcomes with developer results.
  • Identify deficiencies, recommend changes, and escalate issues.
  • Quantify model risks, document outcomes, and communicate findings.
  • Ensure corrective actions are monitored and implemented.
  • Provide technical guidance to business units on model risk mitigation.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of business and risk management requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor performance and address issues proactively.
  • Oversee review and sign-off of validation reports and model inventories.
  • Focus primarily on business-specific validation, with enterprise-wide engagement as needed.
  • Offer specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support.
  • Exercise judgment to diagnose and resolve problems within established guidelines.
  • Handle non-routine situations independently.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Desired Skill-Set

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Math, Math Finance, Statistics, Engineering, or extensive quantitative background.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in quantitative modeling within finance.
  • Proven experience with vetting Market Risk or CCR models.
  • Deep understanding of calibration, valuation, risk factors, and pricing proxies.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (preferably Python/C#).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and team skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven influence skills.
  • Expertise in data-driven decision making.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Adaptiv Vendor system.
  • Previous financial institution interview experience (3 rounds including in-person interview).
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages or risk management tools.
