Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Sr. Data Scientist-Python/AML. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of transaction monitoring systems within a leading financial organization. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting AML activities by leveraging advanced data analytics and technical expertise to ensure regulatory compliance and enhance fraud detection capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analytical activities related to AML transaction monitoring systems, including data quality checks on Oracle and Azure platforms.
  • Develop, support, and optimize data management solutions for various projects of differing complexity.
  • Perform customer segmentation, initial threshold setting, and model performance monitoring tasks.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation to demonstrate compliance with audit, regulatory, and internal review standards.
  • Execute quality control procedures to review interim monitoring solutions, identify gaps, and support future implementation activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify process improvements and provide insights through data analysis and modeling.
  • Assist in scenario review processes to ensure effectiveness and regulatory adherence.
  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of analytical models used for AML detection.

Desired Skill-Set

  • Expert proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Advanced query optimization, debugging, and automation capabilities.
  • Extensive experience working with large-scale datasets for data exploration and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of statistical techniques and data mining tools applied to solve business problems.
  • Proven track record in data-driven or data-centric project delivery.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills to engage with cross-functional teams and present complex findings.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with SAS, Informatica, Tableau, and other analytics tools.
  • AML-specific knowledge and understanding of compliance processes.
  • Prior experience working within the financial services industry.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and audit requirements.
