Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for an Azure SQL DBA-Banking. This position involves providing advanced database support within a dynamic team supporting various lines of business, including capital markets, retail banking, and PBBT.
Pay rate range (CAD): $71.01/hr – $85.22/hr
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of and lead technical resolutions for production incidents
- Communicate complex technical issues clearly to stakeholders and business partners
- Ensure compliance with change control standards and database security policies
- Analyze recurring incidents and recommend service improvements
- Provide on-call rotational support as required, including weekends and emergencies
- Participate in incident management, change management, scheduled disaster recovery, and post-mortem activities
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle and SQL Server databases
- Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and resource management
- Implement and maintain database security following best practices, including encryption and access controls
- Utilize native security features such as TDE, Data Redaction, Database Vault (Oracle), and Always Encrypted (SQL Server)
- Develop high availability and disaster recovery strategies including RAC where applicable
- Automate monitoring and maintenance tasks to ensure optimal database operation
Desired Skill-Set
- 5-7 years of experience with Azure Cloud databases, focusing on MSSQL
- Experience with PostgreSQL, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting (2+ years)
- Proven experience with database installation, configuration, and management of SQL
- Strong skills in query tuning, performance troubleshooting, and monitoring
- Cloud migration experience, including backup, restore, and recovery processes
- Knowledge of high availability, RAC, and disaster recovery strategies
- Experience with automation of database monitoring and maintenance tasks
Nice to Have
- Experience with ServiceNow ticketing system
- Familiarity with SolarWind Performance Tool
- Azure Certification
- Financial industry experience
