Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Claims & Insurance Manager. This position involves overseeing claims processes, managing insurable risks, reviewing insurance-related contract language, and supporting the insurance procurement and services functions within a global corporate risk team. The role demands strong expertise in claims handling, risk management, and stakeholder communication to effectively minimize costs and support the organization’s risk strategies.
Pay rate range (CAD): $38.32/hr – $45.98/hr
Responsibilities
- Manage the settlement of losses across various insurance programs, including Auto, CGL, and US Workers Compensation.
- Report losses, provide loss control advice, interpret coverage, and liaise with insurers, external counsel, and business units.
- Support subrogation and recovery decisions, collaborating with legal teams and lines of business.
- Manage relationships with third-party claims adjusters, ensuring high-quality service and reviewing files to meet reporting standards.
- Review and advise on insurance contract language related to vendor, lease, and customer agreements.
- Contribute to the development and review of corporate policies, standards, and procedures related to insurance and risk management.
- Provide internal and external clients with professional, timely, and responsive service.
- Support all aspects of the corporate insurance department’s functions as needed.
- Manage third-party adjuster relationships, including cost reviews and service evaluations.
- Offer guidance to business units on claims processes in response to loss events.
Desired Skill-Set
- University degree with 5+ years of experience in commercial insurance claims, risk management, or brokerage.
- Partial or completed CIP/CRM designation preferred.
- Proven knowledge of claims handling in Canada and the US, with US Workers’ Compensation experience an asset.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with accounting, financial analysis, claims management, and loss prevention.
- In-depth understanding of insurance industry practices and risk management techniques.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, planning, and leadership skills.
- Strong administrative skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Nice to Have
- Experience with third-party risk management processes.
- Knowledge of insurance policies and contract review.
- Previous experience liaising with brokers, insurers, and adjusters.
- Ability to interpret complex insurance policies and legal language.
