Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Sr. Mainframe Developer/Card Payments. This position involves supporting mission-critical mainframe applications, working closely with a dedicated team to ensure system scalability, security, and high performance. Pay rate range (CAD): $65.60/hr – $78.72/hr
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain mainframe applications, including COBOL, JCL, CICS, and VSAM solutions.
- Translate business requirements into technical design and implementation documents.
- Support testing phases, including unit, system, and integration testing, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Assist in production deployment and support post-deployment stabilization activities.
- Participate in incident management, analyzing outages, performing impact assessments, and supporting recovery efforts.
- Contribute to peer code reviews and technical documentation to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and modernization of mainframe practices.
- Collaborate with internal teams regarding project deliverables, potential risks, and dependencies.
- Support compliance, security, and governance standards within applications and environments.
- Maintain communication with stakeholders regarding project status and technical issues.
Desired Skill-Set
- Over 10 years of application development experience, including end-to-end system design, development, testing, and support.
- Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, and SAS.
- Hands-on knowledge of batch processing frameworks, TIBCO, NDM, FTP, Endevor, and related tools.
- Experience with mainframe platforms such as IBM OS/390, Z/OS, TSO, and ISPF.
- Familiarity with enterprise source control, change management, and deployment procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience in financial services or Card Payment Network industries.
- Knowledge of CA-7 scheduling, File-aid, Test Sets, ServiceNow, and other operational tools.
- Experience supporting on-call rotations and handling high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of automation and modernization initiatives within mainframe environments.
