Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Trade Finance Operations Analyst – CDCS/CSDG. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing trade finance transactions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting risk management initiatives within a dynamic team environment.
Pay rate range (CAD): $34.78/hr – $41.73/hr
Responsibilities
- Manage transaction lifecycle for documentary letters of credit, documentary collections, and payments in adherence to ICC rules and local/foreign statutory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to team members on trade finance products, including ICC regulations such as UCP 600, ISBP 821, URC 522, ISP 98, and URDG 758.
- Maintain and promote a risk-aware culture, aligning processes with risk appetite and enterprise frameworks, including AML, ATF, Business Continuity, and compliance policies.
- Act as the primary contact for transactions, leveraging analytical skills and industry experience to meet client expectations.
- Support process improvement initiatives by sharing knowledge, identifying opportunities for efficiency, and mentoring team members.
- Prioritize and manage workflow requirements to meet multiple deadlines efficiently.
- Lead small projects or initiatives aligned with team goals, ensuring timely delivery.
- Act as a point of contact for clients and front office teams regarding technical aspects of trade finance products.
- Process trade finance instruments, including issuing irrevocable bank undertakings, while safeguarding the bank’s interests.
- Identify and mitigate AML/ATF risk factors by detecting red flags and unusual transactions in line with compliance standards.
- Maintain current industry knowledge to handle moderate complexity transactions across various industries.
- Represent the Trade Finance department for project interactions with other business units and initiatives.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Manage ad-hoc requests and process standard and non-standard transactions of medium to high complexity.
- Develop and produce reports, providing insights and recommendations for continuous process optimization.
Desired Skill-Set
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in trade finance operations, preferably within a financial institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, International Business, or related discipline.
- Sound working knowledge of AML and ATF procedures related to trade finance.
- Strong risk management acumen with high personal accountability.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Skilled in active listening, conflict resolution, and mediation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; programming tools are considered an asset.
Nice to Have
- CDCS and CSDG certifications.
- Experience with process automation tools.
- Knowledge of additional programming languages or data analysis tools.
- Prior exposure to large-scale project management in trade finance.
