Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Business Data Analyst – Equities/EMS/OMS. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join the newly established Capital Markets Data Analytics team supporting Equities technology, focusing on ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and meaningfulness of trading data for analytical and operational purposes. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between front office trading knowledge and technical data solutions, working closely with data scientists, developers, architects, and data modelers to manage and validate trade data throughout the data pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Define, document, and validate trading data sets and data flows.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries for analyzing and validating trading data.
- Perform data analysis and validation activities using Python.
- Collaborate with data scientists, developers, and data architects to translate trading business requirements into technical data specifications.
- Validate data transformations to preserve business logic and accuracy.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues, anomalies, and edge cases.
- Ensure parent/child order relationships and trade events are accurately modeled.
- Support data pipeline initiatives across multiple Capital Markets Data Analytics projects.
- Produce comprehensive documentation supporting downstream analytics and reporting.
Desired Skill-Set
- 5+ years as a Business Systems Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Data-focused BSA.
- Extensive front office Equities trading systems knowledge.
- Deep understanding of Equity Markets and trade lifecycle processes.
- Strong SQL skills with practical experience in query development.
- Python proficiency for data analysis, validation, and manipulation.
- Experience with data mapping, lineage, and data transformation processes.
- Knowledge of data modeling and data architecture principles.
- Experience working with data pipelines and supporting data architecture initiatives.
- Ability to interpret and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of bridging technical and business teams.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to Databricks platform.
- Familiarity with Pandas DataFrames or similar Python data frameworks.
- Experience with relational databases, especially Oracle.
- Knowledge of FIX Protocol.
- Quantitative or analytics experience within Capital Markets.
- Experience with EMS, OMS, or trading platforms supporting Equities.
