Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Senior Project Control Officer in the Capital Markets Delivery Management Office. This position involves overseeing project controls, financial management, stakeholder coordination, and governance for complex business initiatives within the Capital Markets division, supporting projects ranging from $3M to nearly $10M. The role emphasizes broad business outcomes, operational readiness, risk management, and executive reporting, rather than technology delivery.
Pay rate range (CAD): $70.00/hr – $75.00/hr
Responsibilities
- Support project managers and directors across large, complex capital markets initiatives from initiation to closure
- Own and maintain project controls including scope, schedule, financials, risks, issues, dependencies, and change management
- Prepare senior and executive-level project reporting, including financial updates, burn analysis, capacity reports, status decks, and governance materials
- Coordinate with stakeholders across business, operations, risk, compliance, legal, finance, and technology workstreams
- Maintain integrated project plans with milestones, dependencies, owners, and target dates
- Gather, synthesize, and communicate risks, issues, and key project information for reporting purposes
- Maintain RAID logs, decision logs, action items, financial tracking, and governance documentation
- Support senior project managers by owning detailed project controls, enabling higher-value activities and project acceleration
- Establish and enforce project guardrails to ensure detailed activities and dependencies are tracked and managed
- Engage with senior business stakeholders, providing clear, concise, and audience-appropriate updates
- Use Jira and Confluence for planning, task management, documentation, dependencies, and reporting
- Structure and maintain Jira activities, including parent/child relationships and supporting project information
- Facilitate governance meetings, working groups, and follow-up actions
- Identify delivery risks early, escalate issues with clear impact, and support decision-making processes
- Support business and operational readiness, including controls, procedures, and organizational change management
- Coordinate technology dependencies while maintaining focus on the overall business objectives
Desired Skill-Set
- Extensive experience as a senior Project Control Officer supporting large, complex initiatives
- Proven record supporting business-led programs with governance, controls, financials, and stakeholder management
- Exceptional communication skills, with a polished and credible presence in front of senior leadership
- High emotional intelligence, with strong situational awareness and adaptability in communication styles
- Demonstrated stakeholder management skills across complex, matrixed environments at varying seniority levels
- Deep understanding of project financial management, including budget tracking, burn reporting, and financial governance
- Hands-on experience with RAID management, dependencies, project plans, and governance controls
- Strong analytical skills to synthesize complex information into actionable insights and executive reports
- Proficiency with Jira and Confluence for project tracking and documentation
- Negotiation and conflict resolution skills to navigate competing priorities and facilitate issue resolution
Nice to Have
- Experience in Capital Markets, including trade flows, regulatory programs, liquidity, M&A, or risk controls (asset considered, not mandatory)
- Exposure to Agile, Waterfall, or iterative delivery environments
- Certification such as PMP, Agile, or related project management credentials
- Previous experience supporting large financial services programs or enterprise-wide initiatives
